Brief

In the borders of Scotland lies the aptly named ‘Borders Distillery’. An independent distiller, they produce a variety of brands including their two best sellers ‘Kerrs Gin’ and ‘Puffing Billy Vodka’.

The Borders Distillery came to us with a brief which looked to convey the craftsmanship and history that had Bourne their product lineup. For the first film in a three part series,  the concept for ‘Kerrs Gin’ takes a deep dive into the history and process behind the beloved product. Tied together by a captivating VoiceOver, the viewer traverses the journey of ‘Kerrs Gin’ from root to liquid, hence the film’s tagline ‘Strong Roots’.

Process

Smooth match cuts and transitions help to incorporate the CGI for the initial brand history exposition. With the location of the distillery being such a central component of the story, it made sense to convey this as clearly as possible, using animated maps blended with drone footage.

The film plays out in three acts, history, process, serve. Making these acts flow into one another was essential in conveying the sense of ‘grain to glass’ the client desired. Each act was treated with equal care and attention.

The final films were delivered in July of 2021 and premiered on the Borders Website and their YouTube channel shortly after. We look forward to working with the Borders Distillery again on releasing their new inventions to the world.

Former Head of Marketing for The Borders Distillery commented "“OH GOSH put together some excellent films for The Borders Distillery. The pieces had the perfect combination of dramatic drone shots and more intimate detail to bring our place, our process, and our story to life. Cameron, the director, was a pleasure to work with on the project – from briefing and scripting, during the filming itself, and through to final edits and formatting for social media.”
